Advice
From
Dr. James... Be
clear about why you are going to graduate school. Don't limit
yourself to schools listed on a "best graduate schools list;"
talk to your advisors and faculty members to determine which program
is "best for you."
Because
ENSP provides you broad preparation in both science and policy,
you will need to supplement your ENSP requirements if you plan
to attend graduate school in a single, specific discipline, e.g.,
Biology, Economics, Geology, etc. Generally, students wishing
to pursue science-oriented graduate degrees should complete two
semesters of Calculus, two semesters of Physics, and four semesters
of Chemistry.
From
Dr. Whittemore... If
you did not gain substantial work and/or internship experience
as an undergraduate, get it before you apply to graduate
or law school.
Work
experience will help you identify what you like and don't like
and, hence, will help you decide what to study. Also, graduate
school admission committees like to see "demonstrated interest,"
that is, work and/or internship experience, independent study,
or other unique experiences that support your graduate school
personal statement.
