Several students in ENSP 330 Introduction to Environmental Law visited the U.S. Supreme Court this fall to listen to oral arguments in a case brought by power generators against the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission.
The case presented an interesting legal question about the power of the federal government to regulate demand-response programs that provide payments to customers who cut their use during times of peak demand. Students heard questioning from several justices of the Supreme Court as well as the closing statement of U.S. Solicitor General Donald Verrilli.
