Students do not need to wait until their Fall/Spring registration appointments to register for winter or summer courses. The application period opens in October for the Winter Term, and in February for the Summer Term.
There are important differences between semester- enrollment and Winter/Summer- enrollment:
- Unlike Fall/Spring registration, you are asked to pay for Winter and Summer classes immediately; it'll be the next computer screen you see after you register.
- In a three-week Winter Term, one school Day = one Week of class-time and homework in semester-time. Be realistic about your time commitments.
- Normal courseloads are limited to 4 credits/Winter term.
- Students who wish to sign up for > 4 credits must file an Exception to Policy request.
- In a six-week Summer Term, one Week = 2.5 Weeks of class-time and homework in semester-time. Be realistic about your time commitments.
- Normal courseloads are limited to 8 credits/Summer term.
- Students who wish to sign up for > 8 credits must file an Exception to Policy request.
- When registering for an online course:
- Be especially clear about within-semester deadlines and expectations, as they may vary considerably from a "regular" class.
- Students must attend class if they are registered for them; simply not showing up does not constitute dropping a class.
- If you wish to drop a class from Winter or Summer Term and it's the only class you are registered for, you must drop the class in person at the Mitchell Building service desk.
- TESTUDO will not allow you to drop your "last class" over the computer; you must withdraw in person.
- Contact your advisor ASAP if you run into trouble trying to drop a class during Winter or Summer terms.
